THIS IS WHAT WE ARE DOING ---
HYMMD;s Jazz Orchestra; Jazz Ensemble; Jazz Quartet; and, Jazz Triois an on-going three (3) hour study and hands-on, weekly workshop. Students taught all aspects of music theory, learning intricate musical charts and how-to on American Music Jazz and Broadway Theater music.
Our Jazz Ensemble, The Ambassadors of Jazz perform regularly at community and public events. One of the highlights of the year was their performance for President Obama's Youth for Jazz at the Congressional Ballroom. The musicians have performed with outstanding response from the public.
HYMMD is gearing for a yearly Jazz Festival, featuring both young and top seasoned professional jazz musicians. This yearly festival will bridge the gap for youth and professional musicians reaching for a common goal of greatness.
The Ambassadors of Jazz have recorded two albums to date - "Live at the Jackson Estate" and "Live at Westminister Church - Friday Night Jazz''.
HYMMDs Orchestra will be performing "Jazz Then and Now" the evolution in Jazz in 4 parts, with vocals, music and dance (This performance will feature Brian Forehand, alto saxophonist, narrating and performing a lifetime dream and idea of his and his mom) at the John Addison Concert Hall, 10701 Livington Road, Fort Washington, MD 20744- Sunday, August 9, 2009, at 3:00 p.m.
We are constantly on the look-out for new musicians to start the learning process in workshops
